Pomeron - Graviton duality

چکیده
The high energy behavior of the hadronic total cross sections remains one of the biggest unsolved problems in the theory of the strong interactions. The problem is that, even at the very high energies s → ∞, there is a range of scales probed in such a process. Many exclusive processes with additional large scale can be treated using perturbative methods thanks to the property of asymptotic freedom and the factorization theorems. On the other hand, the total cross sections are notoriously difficult to evaluate from the first principles and therefore one has to rely on phenomenological models. The high energy asymptotics of the hadronic interactions was first investigated within the S-matrix and Regge theory. Powerful methods based on few general principles were elaborated, despite the lack of information on the microscopic dynamics. The high energy limit in QCD was calculated within the leading logarithmic approximation in the logarithms of energy. The result was the famous BFKL Pomeron, which indeed has the Regge

On The Pomeron at Large ’t Hooft Coupling
We begin the process of unitarizing the Pomeron at large ’t Hooft coupling. We do so first in the conformal regime, which applies to good accuracy to a number of real and toy problems in QCD. We rewrite the conformal Pomeron in the J-plane and transverse position space, and then work out the eikonal approximation to multiple Pomeron exchange. This is done in the context of a more general treatm...

In 1/Nc expansion, analyticity and crossing lead to crossing even and odd (C = ±1) vacuum exchanges at high-energy, the Pomeron and the Odderon. We discuss how, using String/Gauge duality, these can be identified with a reggeized Graviton and the anti-symmetric Kalb-Ramond fields in AdS background. With confinement, these Regge singularities interpolate with glueball states. We also discuss uni...
متن کاملFROM BLACK HOLES TO GLUEBALLS: The QCD3 Tensor Glueball at Strong Coupling
A strong coupling calculation of glueball masses based on the duality between supergravity and Yang-Mills theory is presented. Earlier work is extended to non-zero spin. Fluctuations in the gravitational metric lead to the 2 state on the leading Pomeron trajectory with a mass relation: m(0) < m(2) < m(1). Contrary to expectation, the mass of our new 0 state (m = 5.4573) associated with the grav...
متن کاملOdderon in Gauge/String Duality
At high energies, elastic hadronic cross sections, such as pp, pp, πp, are dominated by vacuum exchange, which in leading order of the 1/Nc expansion has been identified as the BFKL Pomeron or its strong AdS dual the closed string Reggeized graviton [1]. However the difference of particle anti-particle cross sections are given by a so-called Odderon, carrying C = -1 vacuum quantum numbers ident...
متن کاملEvidence for the BFKL Pomeron from String/Gauge Duality
The high energy limit for hadronic scattering in QCD has two traditional forms: the so called soft Pomeron Regge trajectory for the tensor glueball state and the hard BFKL Pomeron for gluon exchange computed in leading order at weak coupling. This talk will show how AdS/CFT duality provides a natural synthesis of both approaches and will present the BFKL intercept in leading order at strong cou...
